We live as long as we fly

Cheap hotel and a trip to Interlaken

I got back to my room, and that's when my friend's worst nightmare came true — farting seniors. The thing is, there was no toilet in my room, but there was a mysterious locked closet with a door. When an unpleasant smell wafted over, I realized that this was the toilet for the neighboring room, but it was located kind of inside mine! Fortunately, the neighbors didn't take any more dumps after that, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth.

It's my own fault, I booked a hotel with a rating of around 7 so I wouldn't have to pay an extra hundred francs (it already cost a hundred as it is). In my extensive experience, under no circumstances should you book hotels with a rating below 7.8 on Booking. The chances of running into surprises like "farting seniors" are high. Usually, of course, it's something simpler — no shutters or curtains, for example. The curtains in this hotel were top-notch, by the way — not a single ray of light got through. There was also the ubiquitous sink right in the room, which comes in very handy when the bathroom is out in the hallway and you get thirsty at night. The Swiss usually drink tap water, by the way, they trust it. Buying it isn't customary, although my friends do.

I don't remember if I've mentioned it already, but I'm hooked on the local sugar-free tangerine cola from the Happy Cola brand. As Garik says, "a can of cola on an empty stomach jump-starts the stomach." I lived by this principle so strictly that even when there were only five minutes left until my train, I still managed to buy one. What can you do, addictive personality.

In the last issue, I forgot to mention about the hotel that its owners were clearly mystical folks. Not only did the hotel have a "Ganesha" shop attached with incense, bracelets, and other Indian trinkets. But there were also little brochures in the lobby with info about all sorts of wonderful events. Among them were workshops on drawing energetic nourishment from trees, channeling feelings into painting pictures, and other stuff like that. I marveled at how diverse the world is. Truth be told, I couldn't participate in drawing nourishment from wood, 'cause the next morning I was rushing onwards.

By this point, I had run out of Tageskartes, and to my annoyance, the local Coops didn't have any. I had to travel to Interlaken the next morning using my own hard-earned cash. Interlaken. There we were supposed to meet up with friends who had brought me a Tageskarte. From there we were planning to head out to the famous Lauterbrunnen to ascend to the Jungfraujoch saddle, located at an altitude of 3.5km. A saddle is, loosely speaking, the lowest point of a ridge between two peaks.
